Not your average paint + sip.
We see an opportunity to find the artist living within all of us.
We firmly believe
Every human being is an artist (Beuys), and art enables us to find ourselves and lose ourselves at the same time (Merton). There is no reason not to paint (Hopper), because whether you succeed or not is irrelevant, there is no such thing; making your unknown known is the important thing (O’Keefe). So, rather than think[ing] about making art, just get it done. Let everyone else decide if it’s good or bad, whether they love it or hate it. While they are deciding, [let’s] make even more art (Warhol).
How we stack up
We care deeply about delivering high-quality technical instruction rooted in art history . . . executed with a contemporary spin
We celebrate the freedom of creating within a framework instead of replicating prescribed compositions, which strips out the fun, experimentation, and creative choice that is critical to making great art
We elevate our artist instructors by providing them with a platform to build deep community connections; this—in turn—allows our artists to do more of what they love [making art] and less of everything else that gets in the way of their passion
We provide artists with meaningful income that compensates them well for the value they bring to society through creation + ultimately helps minimize the idea of “the starving artist”
We encourage and provide our students with the fundamentals, allowing for continued learning, discovery, and art-making long after class ends
