Join us for a 2-hour hands-on kid-friendly painting workshop exploring one of the art world’s favorite subjects: the horse. This Painterly class loosely follows Dr. Seuss’s Horse Museum’s journey through art history by demonstrating there are countless ways to represent a horse . . . with many more ways yet to be discovered by new artists. In this class, we’ll help each student zero in on what moves them specifically about horses and assist with the creation of an original artwork in that spirit. Example artwork will be provided to guide the process + stoke your imagination.

(Note: While this class is kid-friendly, we encourage all ages to join in the horseplay.)

Horses have appeared in artwork for thousands of years, symbolizing power, beauty, freedom, and human connection with nature. Their presence in art spans cultures and historical periods, from prehistoric cave paintings to contemporary works.
Plus, there are so many different ways to represent a horse in art—from simple lines to colorful shapes to realistic forms—the possibilities are truly endless.

AGES | All ages welcome but 13+ is recommended to benefit the most from instruction.
PREREQUISITE | None. No prior artistic skill required, either.
ARRIVAL | Please allow an extra 15-30 minutes for mingling to ensure you are settled when instruction begins.
ATTIRE | Heavy-duty canvas aprons are provided for class, but because accidents happen sometimes, we do recommend wearing clothes that you don’t mind getting a tad messy.

RESCHEDULING + CANCELLATION POLICY |72-hour notice is required for a 75% refund of prepaid class bookings; bookings may be transferred to a future class before the 72-hour notice timeframe by contacting events@painterly.co. If cancellation or a request to rebook occurs after 72- hours before the start of class, no refund will be provided regardless of reason (note: this policy enables Painterly to protect our artist instructors, who are directly impacted by last-minute cancellations).
