First Impressionism
Movements | Contemporary Explorations in Impressionism
Make an impression.
-
Impressionism is an art movement that proved radical during its time in 19th-century France. Small, visible brushstrokes of unblended color and loose impressions of figurative objects and landscapes defined impressionistic works. To Realists, Impressionism was offensive but it ultimately won over the masses and helped pave new pathways for artistic development.

Lots of places, but especially in museums and auction houses. Some well-known Impressionists are so well-known that they don’t even need first names. Renoir, Pissaro, Degas, Manet, Cézanne, Cassatt, Monet . . . yeah, them.
